Agree. It's appalling. Just took 30 minutes to make a single payment. If I didn't dislike the ethics of most of the other banks, I would move my account.

I hate to think what you would do if you had to make more than a couple of payments a month. Start working at night I suppose, when everyone else is offline.

I beg to differ about the Co-operative Bank / Smile's personal internet banking being any good! It's absolutely stone age when compared to other bank's internet banking services. It may not have some of the problems that the business banking does, but it's not exactly the lofty pinnacle of internet banking (!)

I have two Business accounts with the Co-op, and try to do all my banking online, as most of our customers and suppliers are this way inclined, and in theory it's faster and more convenient.

I have endless problems with their website though - it looks and feels like it was built ten years ago, constantly throws up error messages, is generally slow at the best of times, and generally leads to a lot of frustration and wasted time.

It's been this way for years, and has not been addressed by anyone at Co-op. It's crazy, because their online banking system for personal accounts is supposedly very good. I do all my personal banking with SMILE, which is run by the Co-op, and that's a great site. It's fast and secure and always works.

I'm amazed that they think it's acceptable to give their business customers, who are generally throwing much larger sums of money around on a daily basis, such a thoroughly crap website.

I've phoned them up and ranted away on many occasions. I was told there would be a brand new website running 'in the new year'... January is drawing to a close and I'm still wasting hours trying to make online payments.

The ONLY reason I'm sticking with them is because of their ethical investment policy....

... but I'm starting to feel my compassion for the environment and developing world slide, the more they mess me about.

Rant over.

Please keep going with these Co-op Business Banking fail reports. I have had a business bank account with the Co-op for the last 8 years or so. I am sick to the back teeth of these error messages now. Even the fact that most other banks have failed at the Co-op is staying strong, doesn't even compensate for this awful service which resembles something out of an existentialist play.

I have a Halifax business banking application form on my desk ready to send off. Which really, really pains me because I love the Co-op's approach to business. The problem is that if I can't pay my staff in time for wages day, soon I won't have a business.

A further irony: I was considering as a final resort, paying the Co-op FAR too much money to set up a system so that my accountants can run the payroll automatically rather than me going in and paying my staff through the online banking. First of all they sent us an information leaflet about it instead of sending us the actual application form. Then after we got the application form and filled it in, they lost it. Sent in another application form 2 weeks ago. I'm rather hoping they don't get it, because now I just want to jump ship, saving me hundreds of pounds.

Don't know if anyone else has had this problem this week but every day this week so far when I login to Coop Business banking my accounts are missing and they don't appear until about mid afternoon. Could it be that their nightly update is running late ! As usual if you phone up its a 20min wait for someone to tell you that they are having "problems" with their computer systems. I'm begining to wonder if the lure of free business banking was worth it.
